Leadership Pathways
The Leadership Pathways Project aims to support building an effective wide-reaching Counselor in Training program. The purpose of this project is to ensure that all campers feel a sense of belonging at camp because staff reflect their backgrounds, identities, and abilities. The Counselor in Training program will provide a bridge for campers to grow into potential staff members and develop key communication and leadership skills. The Leadership Pathways Project is about creating, strengthening, and expanding spectrUM's counselor in training program to increase access for nontraditional campers.
Project Timeline
Year 1 (May 2024 – May 2025): Design and concept testing
Year 2 (May 2025 – May 2026): Implementation planning, initial testing, evaluation
Year 3 (May 2026 – May 2027): Improvement planning, full implementation, reflection
This work was made possible by a grant from the American Camp Association (ACA), a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit. ACA serves the more than 15,000 year-round and summer camps in the US who annually serve 26 million campers.
